Lifting the tender to the front of the mast

We just purchased a new tender. It is the 3rd tender since we got our boat in 2010. The first one was from Seatec (SVB - Germany) and its weight was about  30 Kg. In the middle of the summer of 2014 we bought a 3D Tender Light. As the previous one it had an inflatable floor but weighted just 12 Kg. The weight was the reason we bought it. It had no inflatable keel as the the Seatec one and the diameter of the tubes was also smaller. But it was very easy to pull it out of the water and place it in the front of the mast. The main problem was the wind when towed at the back of our boat. One night in Cefalu (Sicily) a 2 hour storm came along while we were at anchor and the tender just turned upside down with our 2.5 HP Honda completed emerged in the water. From that day on, we never towed the dinghy with the engine on its transom. But, without the engine weight, any 20 knots of wind were able to put the dinghy flying on the back of our boat.

So, next May, a new 2,5m QuickSilver tender is waiting for us!

We bought it here for a very reasonable price (just 38 euros more for shipping to Greece!). It weights 28 Kg and now I am 67 years old! So I am planning a system to lift the tender out of the water. We can not use any of the halyards as it would require to take the sails out. So I am thinking in using a simple block on the extremity of the first cross tree and to conduit a 8mm line through it. The line would pass the genoa traveller car and then would reach the genoa winch. A sketch of the system is in here. Next May I will see if it works!
 
Edited Later - We decided to place a line trough the mast to the top of it! The line comes to winch that controls the main sale! Much better!

Crossing the Corintho Channel (2017)

This little film was taken on the afternoon of Sunday, June, 18, 2017. We had arrived at Kiato on Friday and spent the Saturday waiting for the wind to calm down. A local fisherman told me, on Saturday afternoon, to stay until Monday, because Sunday would be a windy and rainy day. The experience in Galaxidi, just 3 days ago, was fresh in our memories, but that is another story. My concern was not knowing where to moor after passing the channel giving that Anuska and Fabrizzio had a flight to Alicante on Monday. One sailor that I met in Galaxidi had told me not to miss Korfos nor the PapaGeorge tavern. And when I was looking my  Navionics app in order to decide what to do, I saw the telephone of that taverna and the information that they had free mooring (and free water, electricity and showers). I called PapaGeorge and received an OK. I could go and be sure to have a mooring place even if we arrived after sunset. And so we started our crossing from Kiato to Korfos! In the end, our decision to leave Kiato on Sunday was fine! We only got a bit of wind in the first hour!
